HELP INVENTION POSTER

The present INVENTION relates to a historical aid in the form of a poster for both educational and entertainment purposes. Specifically, this poster focuses on key historical events placed on a chronological timeline in the following six categories: Revolutions, Empires, Colonies, Wars, Technology and Religion.

Brief Summary of Invention and various Embodiment's

The present invention is a two-dimensional table. The first dimension is a timeline and the second represents the layers of information. These two dimensions are subject to change depending on the topic of the project. This specific HELP poster has the following dimensions: 1 – timeline from 3000 BC – 1900 AD and 2 – 6 layers of historical information: Revolutions, Empires, Colonies, Wars, Technology, and Religion. In different embodiments, the project will be presented in tangible poster form as well as intangible on the Internet and mobile apps.

The objective is to educate the audience about history through time using brief facts and an interconnecting, overlapping “map” to aid in visualizing.

The current embodiment used to represent this method is presented as what can be assumed to be a historical “periodic table”.

There are no present outlets or tools available where a brief view of all of history through time can is visualized.

Drawings

The project is a JPEG image, custom made to include all of the information stated. This image will be used in poster format as well as online and mobile apps format.

This drawing is comprised of a 25-column x 6-row outline. Each row takes up 1/6th of the page’s height, and goes all the way from the left of the poster – where the title of the row is written – to the right. In each row, at the top of the column is written the year in which the facts below are approximated to have occurred. The row titles are as follows: Revolutions, Empires, Colonies, Wars, Technology, and Religion. The titles are written vertically in the top left hand side of the beginning of each row. The year numbering in each individual row, by column, goes: 3000 BC, 2000 BC, 1500 BC, 1000 BC, 500 BC, 0, 100 AD, 200 AD, 300 AD, 400 AD, 500 AD, 600 AD, 700 AD, 800 AD, 900 AD, 1000 AD, 1100 AD, 1200 AD, 1300 AD, 1400 AD, 1500 AD, 1600 AD, 1700 AD, 1800 AD and 1900 AD.

Each of the six rows has an image placed in the sub-layer beneath all of the information. This image represents the subject being presented. The sub-layer of Revolutions has tricolor background in form of extending rays. The sub-layer of Empires is a large chessboard. The sub-layer of Colonies is a ball and chain. The sub-layer of Wars is a screaming man in a background of blood. The sub-layer of Technology is a spacecraft and astronaut. The sub-layer of Religion is part of The Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo. These sub-layers were created in Photoshop using images taken from Google that were edited to fit the subject matter.

Making an Impact

It was found that a tool does not exist online or elsewhere for students and parents alike to learn about the history of the world over a large period of time in one combined place. Many resources exist where history can be broadly recalled either of certain regions or about certain topics, however there is not one tool that presents the holistic view of a wide range of historical occurrences in chronological order that is so generalized.

At present, the method of teaching is completed in the English language on a 26 by 37 inch poster paper in full color. The poster is in the form of a table organized approximately 6 rows by 26 columns from 3000 BC to 1900 AC.

The “map of history” is used as a method of learning to enable users to understand numerous key historical events in chronological order as well as intertwining these events between 6 main topics: Revolutions, Empires, Colonies, Wars, Technology and Religion. These listed topics are selected as the main focus areas for the current method of learning, however the method is not limited to these 6 topics and new subjects are being explored. The method is going to be translated into different languages upon completion.
